Royal Caribbean International, the world’s largest and most popular cruise line, has gained government approval to develop the first Royal Beach Club in The Bahamas. This 17-acre destination on Paradise Island in Nassau will offer an incredible beach day experience, combining the island’s breathtaking beaches with Royal Caribbean’s signature offerings.
The project, a collaboration with the Bahamian government, will involve a public-private partnership. Bahamians will have the opportunity to own up to 49% of the beach club and local businesses and entrepreneurs will manage the majority of the experience. This exciting venture will create hundreds of jobs during construction and operation.
“The Bahamas has been an incredible partner for over 50 years,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. “The Royal Beach Club at Paradise Island is a testament to our commitment to increasing tourism in The Bahamas and providing unforgettable vacations for our guests.”
The beach club will feature private cabanas, stunning pools, and a vibrant Bahamian atmosphere. Visitors can expect local architecture, delicious Bahamian cuisine, island-style barbecues, live music, and the work of local artisans.
With 13 acres owned by Royal Caribbean and 4 acres of government-owned land, this project marks the first-of-its-kind agreement in The Bahamas where the government will receive a share of profits from the beach club. Additionally, a new tourism levy will be reinvested in the local community. The collaboration between the government, community, and Royal Caribbean will continue throughout the planning and completion stages of the development.
