Thrill-seekers, get ready – AlpenFury is officially open at Canada’s Wonderland, and it’s redefining what it means to ride a roller coaster in Canada.

Opening this weekend, AlpenFury is being touted as the country’s longest, tallest, and fastest launch coaster, delivering an adrenaline-charged experience from the very start. Unlike traditional coasters that slowly ascend a lift hill, this one launches riders straight into action. And not just once, AlpenFury features two powerful launches, the first blasting you into the legendary Wonder Mountain, and the second launching you out of the summit at a dramatic 50 metres high, hitting top speeds of 115 km/h.

From there, things only get wilder. Riders will twist and flip through nine inversions, the most of any launch coaster in the world. This high-octane journey covers 1,000 metres across the park, combining speed, height, and precision-designed thrills in a way never been seen before in Canada.
“With the combination of the two launches, that straight vertical climb and nine wild inversions, it will provide an action-packed, unforgettable experience,” said Heather Hill, park manager and vice president of operations.
Designed by Premier Rides, AlpenFury becomes Canada’s Wonderland’s 19th roller coaster and the fourth to interact with Wonder Mountain, which continues to be the symbolic heart of the park. It also anchors a newly themed area called Alpenfest, a village celebrating the mystical union of fire and ice—an elemental clash that echoes the storyline of the ride.
“AlpenFury is a world-class attraction,” said Phil Liggett, general manager at Canada’s Wonderland. “The combination of being blasted out of Wonder Mountain, and then racing through nine inversions one right after the other, is going to be an experience guests won’t soon forget.”
Guests lined up to experience the new launch coaster for the first time on Saturday, July 12. Reddit users already raved about the ride:
“Just got off AlpenFury and… wow. Just wow.… THE 2ND LAUNCH IS ABSOLUTELY BONKERS… each inversion feels like it’s trying to slap you right in the face.”

No contest, it’s the new king of the park. The pacing is just stupidly good. It’s a non-stop barrage of inversions that just keeps coming at you. You barely have time to process one before you’re thrown into the next. The trains are also way more comfortable than I expected for a Premier, which is a huge plus.
The only downside was the queue. It was an absolute free-for-all with line jumpers. Seriously, in the short time I was there, I saw a ton of people just walk past everyone. It’s frustrating and really kills the pre-ride excitement.
But the ride itself? Absolutely top-tier. It’s in my top 10 for me (America), no question. I’d take it over StarDust & Maverick any day, and it’s nipping at the heels of Velocicoaster for me.
They really knocked it out of the park with this one. Go ride it. Now.”
