Carnival Corporation announced today they’ve teamed up with top German shipbuilder Meyer Werft to build another Excel-class cruise ship for their Carnival Cruise Line brand. This will be the 10th ship of its kind in Carnival Corporation’s fleet, which includes four world-class brands.
Expected to set sail in Spring 2027, Excel-4 weighs a whopping 180,000 tons. It will have room for over 6,400 guests and will run on the latest liquefied natural gas (LNG) technology.
This is Carnival Corporation’s first new build order in five years and they’re pulling out all the stops to bring something truly special.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, couldn’t hide her enthusiasm. She said, “Our Excel-class ships have been a hit with our guests. As the world’s most popular cruise line, this new addition will allow us to keep growing our fleet and offer even more unforgettable experiences to our loyal customers and newcomers alike.”
Josh Weinstein, CEO of Carnival Corporation, shared Duffy’s excitement. He explained that this new ship reflects their commitment to growth and providing top-of-the-line ships for their guests. Plus, with only one other newbuild scheduled before 2027, they’re focused on making sound financial decisions and giving back to shareholders.
Guests should expect the new ship to come packed with options for vacationers of all ages. Mardi Gras, Celebration and Jubilee all feature a first at sea roller coaster and expansive waterparks.
Jubilee has SportSquare Ropes Course and the beautiful Grand Central entertainment space. Knowing all of the vacation value that has been packed into the previous Excel-class ships, we can’t wait to see what is coming for the 4th installment!
