MSC Cruises has officially welcomed MSC World America Cruise Ship to its fleet, a ship that represents the next step in the cruise line’s expansion into the North American market. Built at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France, the ship is part of a milestone celebration that also included the coin ceremony for MSC World Asia and the steel cutting for the newly named MSC World Atlantic. With a state-of-the-art design, cutting-edge sustainability features, and a commitment to delivering an unparalleled guest experience, MSC World America is set to redefine modern cruising.

A Landmark Moment for MSC Cruises
The delivery of MSC World America was celebrated with a prestigious event attended by key industry figures, including MSC Cruises’ Founder and Group Chairman Captain Gianluigi Aponte, Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago, Chantiers de l’Atlantique General Manager Laurent Castaing, and France’s Minister for Industry and Energy, Marc Ferracci.
Pierfrancesco Vago underscored the significance of the new flagship, emphasizing MSC’s continued partnership with Chantiers de l’Atlantique and the cruise line’s dedication to innovation: “Our new flagship is a testament to our long-standing, innovative partnership spanning over 20 years, resulting in five groundbreaking prototypes and 19 ships. Together, we continue to push boundaries, combining cutting-edge design, the latest technologies, and a richness of experiences to set new standards in cruising.”
Designed for North America
MSC World America is the 23rd ship in the fleet and the second vessel in the World Class series, following MSC World Europa. While its sister ship was designed with a focus on European markets, MSC World America is purpose-built for North American cruisers, blending European sophistication with the casual luxury that American travelers expect. The ship will be officially named on April 9 at the brand-new MSC Miami Cruise Terminal, which holds the distinction of being the largest in the world.
With a gross tonnage of 216,638 and a passenger capacity of 6,762, MSC World America offers a wealth of onboard amenities.

The ship features:
- Seven Distinct Districts: Each district offers a unique atmosphere, catering to different traveler preferences, from family-friendly entertainment to serene, adults-only retreats.
- Eataly at Sea: The first and only Eataly restaurant aboard an MSC ship, bringing world-class Italian dining to passengers.
- The Harbour: A groundbreaking family-centric outdoor space with a ropes course, playground, relaxation areas, and a one-of-a-kind over-water swing ride known as Cliffhanger.
- World Promenade: An open-air shopping and dining area with spectacular ocean views and one of the longest dry slides at sea.
- The World Galleria: A multi-level social hub lined with bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
- Largest MSC Yacht Club in the Caribbean: A luxury enclave offering exclusive amenities, 24-hour butler service, and private dining areas.
Sustainability at the Forefront
In addition to offering an elevated guest experience, MSC World America is among the most environmentally advanced cruise ships ever built. The ship runs on liquefied natural gas (LNG), significantly reducing emissions and allowing for a transition toward bio and synthetic fuels in the future. It is equipped with shore power connectivity, an advanced wastewater treatment system, and a comprehensive onboard recycling program.
Laurent Castaing, General Manager of Chantiers de l’Atlantique, highlighted the ship’s environmental advancements: “MSC World America has the best energy efficiency design index (EEDI) from the IMO, and therefore the lowest carbon footprint of the entire cruise industry.”
Setting Sail from Miami
MSC World America will embark on its inaugural voyage on April 12, offering 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Destinations include Puerto Plata, San Juan, Cozumel, and MSC Cruises’ private island, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, promising a mix of cultural exploration and tropical relaxation.
