Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway cruise ship has entered its scheduled drydock that will introduce a series of significant enhancements aimed at elevating the onboard experience for future vacationers. Scheduled from February 19 to March 14, 2025, NCL will add new entertainment venues, expanded outdoor spaces, and upgraded dining options.
A Cinematic Dining Experience: Silver Screen Bistro

One of the most exciting additions to Norwegian Breakaway is the debut of Silver Screen Bistro, a first-of-its-kind immersive cinema and dining venue at sea. Also added to sister ship Norwegian Breakaway during its January drydock, it replaces the Spiegel Tent, as an innovative space that will offer comfortable oversized recliners and retractable tables. The menu will feature shareable handheld dishes, including selections from NCL’s global fusion specialty restaurant, Food Republic. Designed for travelers of all ages, Silver Screen Bistro aims to create an experience that merges great food with movie night, much like the VIP theaters in major cities.
Horizon Park: A New Outdoor Gathering Space

Another highlight of the refurbishment is the introduction of Horizon Park, a new top-deck venue designed to provide guests with a relaxed and scenic outdoor retreat. Offering sweeping ocean views, Horizon Park will feature lawn-style games such as cornhole and giant Jenga, along with reclining loungers for sunbathing. Additionally, Norwegian Breakaway’s iteration of Horizon Park will include a dedicated stage for live music and entertainment, further enhancing the ship’s laid back atmosphere.

The Stadium: Family-Friendly Fun at Sea
In response to its popularity on NCL’s Prima Class ships, Norwegian Breakaway will also debut The Stadium, a complimentary outdoor activity space offering a range of interactive, family-friendly games.
Dining Enhancements and Expanded Spaces
Norwegian Breakaway’s drydock will also bring updates to some popular restaurants. Cagney’s Steakhouse will expand, replacing Moderno Churrascaria, to accommodate more guests. The seafood restaurant Ocean Blue will be transformed into Palomar, a Mediterranean-inspired specialty dining venue that originally debuted on Norwegian Prima.
For guests seeking exclusive relaxation, both Vibe Beach Club— the ship’s adults-only outdoor retreat—and The Haven Sundeck will be expanded to include additional seating and cabanas.

Following its drydock, Norwegian Breakaway will head to Europe for a series of itineraries, departing from Barcelona, Spain, and Venice (Trieste), Italy. These voyages will feature stops in stunning destinations such as Florence/Pisa (Livorno), Italy; Palma (Majorca), Spain; Cannes, France; Corfu, Greece; and more.

The last time the Norwegian Breakaway was upgraded was in 2020, when the ship underwent significant enhancements to improve both guest experiences and overall functionality. The upgrades included expanding open spaces, introducing new entertainment venues , and adding seafood restaurants to enhance dining options. Social spaces were upgraded for better comfort and usability, while key mechanical systems, such as the stabilizers and azipods, were refurbished.
