Today Disneyland Resort officially kicks off its 70th anniversary celebration—an event that stretches across both parks, Downtown Disney, and resort hotels through summer 2026. What started as a single theme park in 1955 has become a world-renowned destination filled with generations of memories. Now, Disney is honoring that legacy with a celebration that blends nostalgia, innovation, and joy in equal measure.

When Walt Disney opened Disneyland 70 years ago, he envisioned a place that would bring happiness and inspiration to all. That sentiment still holds true, and this limited-time anniversary event is designed to capture the wonder of every visit—whether it’s your first trip or your fiftieth.
Today, the Disneyland Resort spans two theme parks, three hotels, and a continually evolving Downtown Disney District. And while the parks keep growing, they’ve never lost sight of the magic that started it all.
High-Energy Entertainment, Day to Night
A big part of the 70th celebration is the entertainment lineup, which includes the return of fan favorites and brand-new spectacles.
Back by popular demand:
- “Paint the Night” Parade returns to Disneyland Park, lighting up the streets with millions of colorful LEDs and dazzling floats.
- “Wondrous Journeys” makes a comeback, combining projections and music from Walt Disney Animation Studios films—with fireworks lighting the sky on select nights.

New for the anniversary:
- “World of Color – Happiness!” at Disney California Adventure is a reimagined water show featuring Boyz II Men’s version of Rainbow Connection and a new original song by FITZ of Fitz and the Tantrums.
- “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” brings high-energy fun and over two dozen Pixar characters to the streets in a daytime parade.

More ways to feel the magic:
- At Disneyland Park, don’t miss the “Celebrate Happy Cavalcade” or the “Tapestry of Happiness” projection show on the façade of “it’s a small world.”
- Over at Disney California Adventure, nightly projections light up the Carthay Circle Restaurant in “Celebrate Happy: A Little Bit of Magic Every Night.”
And yes, there’s a new theme song too—“Celebrate Happy” performed by the Jonas Brothers—featured throughout the celebration. You can listen to the entire 70th Anniversary soundtrack now via Walt Disney Records on the Disneyland Official Playlist.
Just keep in mind: some shows will pause temporarily during seasonal offerings and resume afterward. Always check the Disneyland app or website for current schedules.
Special Decor and Tasty Additions
The entire resort has been decked out for the occasion. Think bold jewel tones—deep blue, magenta, and purple—with golden accents that shimmer in the California sun. Sleeping Beauty Castle wears a new celebratory medallion, and Mickey, Minnie, and friends are greeting guests in limited-time anniversary outfits.
Food and drink are also part of the fun, with more than 70 new menu items available across the parks. Expect nostalgic treats with a modern spin, themed candy, and some fun novelty items for collectors.
And speaking of collectors—merch fans, you’re covered. Several exclusive collections will be released throughout the year. From the vibrant 70th Anniversary Celebration Collection to the retro-cool Vault Collection, there’s something for everyone.
What’s New (and What’s Next)
While the 70th celebration is front and center, Disneyland Resort is also continuing to roll out new experiences.
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a new water ride inspired by The Princess and the Frog, is now open.
- In “it’s a small world,” keep an eye out for Miguel and Dante from Coco in the Mexico scene.
- Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! debuts May 16 at Disney California Adventure, with interactive songs and fun moments for the youngest guests.
On July 17, 2025—the park’s official 70th birthday—two major tributes will open:
- “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” at the Main Street Opera House: a cinematic retelling of Walt’s story, including a newly imagined Audio-Animatronic visit to his office.
- An expanded gallery experience filled with Disneyland artifacts from the past seven decades.
Plus, there will be new elements in the Main Street Cinema, including a tribute to the legendary Sherman Brothers, and even a fresh verse added to the classic tune from “it’s a small world.”
Downtown Disney Evolves, Too
Downtown Disney continues to grow alongside the parks. New additions include:
- Disney Wonderful World of Sweets
- The D-Lander Shop
- Parkside Market food hall
- And more on the way!
While the 70th anniversary is a chance to reflect on the past, it also highlights the ongoing changes happening across the resort—from new attractions to expanded offerings still in the works.
