If you’re the kind of person who swaps sunscreen for sweaters the moment August hits, you’re not alone—and Disneyland gets it. Beginning August 22, 2025, the resort transforms into a festive blend of spooky and sentimental with the return of Halloween Time and Plaza de la Familia. Whether you’re chasing thrills, collecting themed snacks, or simply soaking in the fall atmosphere, there’s no shortage of reasons to visit this season.

Halloween Magic Across the Resort
From August 22 through October 31, Halloween Time brings the kind of “frightfully fun” atmosphere that’s just right for all ages. The parks go all-in with glowing pumpkins, autumn décor, and seasonal overlays on beloved rides. Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland Park welcomes guests with the giant Mickey pumpkin that’s become a fan-favorite photo spot, while over in Disney California Adventure Park, attractions like Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween, and Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark all get in on the action.
At Disneyland Park, the Haunted Mansion Holiday returns with its eerie Nightmare Before Christmas twist. And for families with younger kids, shows like Mickey’s Trick and Treat and the return of Halloween Screams nighttime spectacular (with fireworks on select nights) bring just the right amount of spooky sparkle.
Looking for something a little more interactive? Try your hand at Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit, a playful scavenger hunt across Disneyland Resort. Pick up a map, search for themed pumpkins, and score a keepsake when you’re done.
More Treats Than Tricks
Fall isn’t complete without festive bites, and Disneyland delivers. New items like jalapeño-cream cheese bread and Oogie Boogie lemonade join a long list of seasonal sips and sweets. And if you’re hunting for merch, expect to find the Mickey Mouse Family Halloween Collection and more specialty items throughout the parks and Downtown Disney.
Even the resort hotels are getting in on the fun. Guests staying overnight can enjoy themed treat trails, limited-time character dining like Goofy’s Kitchen Celebrates Halloween and Mickey’s Autumn Adventures Breakfast, and Halloween-themed spa treatments. Yes, really—because spooky season can be relaxing too.
Over at the Disneyland Hotel, the all-new Broken Spell Lounge serves up Disney Villains-inspired cocktails, while Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa displays an elaborate seasonal confectionery centerpiece that’s practically art (and yes, edible).
A Tribute to Día de los Muertos
Running from August 22 to November 2, Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure Park brings Día de los Muertos to life through music, art, and food. Inspired by Pixar’s Coco, this vibrant celebration centers on family, memory, and tradition.
The interactive Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia show returns with music and dance performances that highlight the emotional heart of Coco. You’ll also find craft stations, themed backdrops, live music, and special menu items like tamales and Mexican street corn at Paradise Garden Grill.
Nearby in Disneyland Park, Frontierland also pays tribute with ofrendas, marigold displays, and skeleton figures near Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante—a thoughtful and colorful space that blends remembrance with celebration.
And for fans of Coco, the new Disney Pixar Coco Collection launches in early September with fresh apparel, accessories, and more inspired by the film.
Oogie Boogie Bash Is Back

If you’re up for some nighttime fun, the after-hours Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party returns to Disney California Adventure Park on select nights from August 17 to October 31. This separately ticketed event includes trick-or-treat trails, villain-themed zones, the eerie Villains Grove, and the Frightfully Fun Parade. Shorter ride lines and unlimited PhotoPass downloads sweeten the deal.
Tickets go on sale to the public June 26 (starting at 9 a.m. PT), with early access on June 24–25 for Magic Key holders. Want a little extra magic? The Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party offers preferred parade viewing along with a spread of themed desserts and drinks.
The 70th Celebration Continues
If you’re visiting during Halloween season, you’ll still catch highlights from Disneyland Resort’s 70th anniversary. Entertainment like Paint the Night, Tapestry of Happiness at “it’s a small world”, and World of Color – Happiness! will remain. Photo spots, themed overlays like those on Toy Story Midway Mania!, and MagicBand+ enhancements continue to sprinkle extra pixie dust throughout the parks.
