Just a week after GoPro debuted their new Karma drone, DJI hit back with a smaller, more compact drone will likely keep them on top of the consumer aerial photography market.
The new Mavic address most issues that drone owners have; portability, usability, and battery life.
On top of offering users a 27 minute flight time, it has an all-new transmission system with a 4.3mi (7km) range, 5 vision sensors, and a 4K camera stabilized by a 3-axis mechanical gimbal.
The Mavic uses FlightAutonomy technology to sense obstacles up to 49ft (15m) away. It can then bypass these obstacles or brake to hover, preventing accidents even when flying beyond visual range.
Pilots will also be able to fly it with the included controller, or just by using their phone with the DJI software.
Trying to catch an exciting moment? The Mavic will be able to fly smoothly in up to 24mph (38.5kph) winds. Flip it into sport Mode and the Mavic can hit a top speed of 40mph (65kph), all the while ramping up agility and responsiveness, to give you a taste of drone racing. You can also use it to film something fast, or zip out to catch a shot before the moment passes. DJI notes that in Sport Mode, the Mavic will stop instantly if you let go of the controls, so no matter how fast you go, you can stop at any time.
For the first time, pilots will get a first person view with DJI’s new Goggles. This headset makes flying totally immersive, putting two lifelike 1920 × 1080p LTPS displays with a wide 85° angle of view in front of your eyes for a true bird’s eye look at the world around you. Built-in OcuSync delivers a 1080p video stream and, because it connects directly to the Mavic and not through a cable or a Wi-Fi link to the controller, a super low latency.
DJI’s software will also offer users automatic video editing templates, simple video editing functions, and easy photo and video management to bring together everything you need to make epic videos right in your phone. All you need to do is choose the shots you think will amaze.
Additional features:
Gimbal-Stabilized 12MP / 4K Camera
OcuSync Transmission Technology
GPS- & Vision Position-Based Navigation
DJI GO App-Based Control and Monitoring
ActiveTrack Subject Tracking Modes
Tap- and Gesture-Based Commands
When it is released in a couple weeks, the Mavic will retail for $999.
In the box, it will come with:
DJI Mavic Pro
Remote Controller
Intelligent Flight Battery for Mavic Quadcopter
3 x 8330 Quick Release Folding Propellers for Mavic Drone
Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 made her United States debut today after a significant rejuvenation, which was rumored to cost in the region of $132 million.
During her 25 days in dry dock, the luxury liner was given contemporary interior designs and guest experiences, many of which take their design inspiration from the original Queen Mary, which debuted into service 80 years ago.
The only ship to offer services for dogs and cats, the Queen Mary 2 has expanded its kennel service during this multi-million dollar renovation, adding 12 new kennels for a total of 24. In addition, the ship extended the kennel area, adding an owner’s lounge, new pet playground, and expanded the outdoor area to accommodate an historic British lamppost and American fire hydrant so canines from both sides of the pond feel at home. If that isn’t enough, they have a full-time Kennel Master takes care of daily pet responsibilities including feeding, walking and cuddling the pets onboard.
Additionally, the new Queen Mary 2 features:
Redesign and refurbishment of the Queens Grill and Princess Grill suites and restaurants, as well as Britannia staterooms, the latter to be fully completed by the end of the year.
The addition of 30 further Britannia Club staterooms, 15 Britannia single staterooms and five Britannia inside staterooms.
Redesign of key public spaces and restaurants, including the transformation of the former Winter Garden into the Carinthia Lounge, the introduction of The Verandah as the ship’s new specialty restaurant, and the complete refresh and restructuring of the Kings Court, the ship’s popular buffet area.
And as befitting the flagship of the Cunard fleet, a complete repaint of the ship exterior and significant technical enhancements and structural changes.

A Disney Park classic for 39 years, the Main Street Electrical Parade, will make its last trip through Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World in Florida on Oct. 9, 2016.
Despite being a rite of passage with parents and grandparents eager to share the nostalgic experience with their children, the vibrant parade will ‘glow away’ in just a few short weeks. Families will have one more chance to see the parade and share this special memory, on select nights, before it departs.
West Coast fans, however, will be able to catch the parade for a limited time when it travels cross-country to Disneyland Park in Anaheim, Calif., early next year.
Brought to light in the early 1970s, the original Main Street Electrical Parade helped establish a Disney Parks reputation for innovative, trend-setting live entertainment. As lights go down along the parade route, the parade brings a variety of beloved Disney animated feature films to life through three-dimensional floats covered with approximately half a million colorful LED twinkling lights. The parade’s iconic musical theme, the electrically synthesized “Baroque Hoedown,” is interwoven with favorite Disney themes. It all adds to the unique upbeat excitement of the procession.
Some of the parade’s most impressive scenes are the 23-foot-tall Clock Tower over Cinderella’s Ball, complete with elegant ballroom dancers in light-covered costumes; the smoke-breathing, tail-wagging Pete’s Dragon; and the 108-foot-long red, white and blue flag finale. Other characters who make appearances include Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and, of course, Mickey Mouse.
The Main Street Electrical parade at Walt Disney World Resort will not appear during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights, instead they can check out Mickey’s Boo-to-You Parade!
Visitors looking to see the Electric parade before it departs on Oct. 9 should check for the latest parade dates and times on WaltDisneyWorld.com or in the My Disney Experience app.
Knott’s Berry Farm has announced they will be renovating existing attractions and expanding their water park for next Summer!
Orange County’s largest water park will debut two exciting new water slide towers that will be geared towards families and thrill seekers.
Shore Break will tower over seven stories and offer six different thrilling water slide experiences. Four of the slides on the 60-foot tall tower will start with guests climbing inside an Aqua-Launch chamber where they will wait anxiously for the floor to drop out from underneath their feet, sending them into a high-speed, almost vertical free fall through a series of flat loops and S-curves in a translucent flume. Shore Break will also feature dueling tube slides that will zip riders through an enchanting series of drops and turns. The height requirements for Shore Break slides are 48 inches.
The Wedge slide tower will take the location of the current Pacific Spin and will be an open air family raft ride. Up to six guests at a time will descend down navigating twists and turns and surprise drops. Height requirement for The Wedge is 48 inches or 40 inches when accompanied by a supervising companion.
Look for both of these rides to open in May 2017 when Knott’s Soak City Water Park opens for the summer.
Since the park opened 60 years ago, Disneyland has been taking guests on a journey along four iconic American rivers.
Closed temporarily as the park prepares to bring an all-new Star Wars-themed land to the park, Disney has announced the Disneyland Railroad and Rivers of America will reopen summer 2017 with a gorgeous new riverbank and an elevated trestle over which the iconic Disneyland Railroad will travel.
For now, guests can stop by the Main Street and New Orleans Square stations to get an up-close look at the steam engines of the Disneyland Railroad.
They can also look forward to the return of all attractions along the Rivers of America:
“Fantasmic!”
Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia
Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island
Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes
The renderings for the route look incredible! We can’t wait until it re-opens.

Last week while in NYC I stayed at the Yotel. Located at 10th avenue and 41st street, this hotel is a great location for travelers who want to see the city.
This hotel has been on my radar for a bit as I am always looking for a reasonably priced option for quick trips to the city. It is a little different than other hotels I have stayed at, but their whole process is definitely convenient.
When you arrive there are kiosks that will check you in. Next a bank of elevators will take you to the 4th floor, where you can catch a second elevator to your cabin’s location.
I booked my stay through Hotwire just a few days before my trip.
My ‘cabin’, however, was much smaller than I expected – measuring just 7 ft by 9-10 ft. I was a little surprised by this as I could not find this particular cabin listed anywhere on their site. In fact, the smallest room shown on their site has a queen, which my room did not and the image that was sent to me after booking was of their Premium Queen View…
When I entered there was a bathroom to the right of the door and a shower just beyond it.
To the left of the entrance is a bank of shelves, a clothes hanger, an iron and ironing board.
The main area of the room was equipped with a small bed that is just a bit bigger than a twin.
At the foot of the bed was a sink and the room’s flat screen TV.
The back lighting on the tv gives the room a very modern look and can be adjusted to a large number of colors. There is also a USB charger under the TV and a power outlet as well. In total, there are two power outlets in the room.
The best part about the room was my view. I’ve stayed at many hotels in the city and this was probably the best view I’ve had. Keep in mind I stay around the $250/night in NYC so there are better views out there for a higher price point.
If you forget something the hotel has a small vending machine by the elevators that sells snacks, power cords and other personal items.
On the 4th floor travelers can grab a drink at the patio bar and relax in some of the loungers.
For guests looking to securely store their bags while they explore the city, there is a cool robot in the lobby that keeps them safe in a vault until you return. This service costs $2 per bag, as does checking your bags with the concierge.
Guests who are driving in from out of town will be happy to know that there is parking in the building. If you tell them you are staying at the Yotel the rate is $45/night.
Despite the itty bitty room, this hotel is a great destination for travelers who are just looking for a place to rest their head. The bed fit me just fine, but I’m only 5’4″. Had I have been taller, it would have been cramped.
This room was clearly for a single traveler, but there are more options for families who want to see the city.

I want to camp. I do. But I just don’t want to do it in a tent. I want to do it in an RV, but that just isn’t in the cards for us right now so I have been looking at trailers. We don’t have a lot of room to store one, but would like something that will keep us comfy during a weekend trip to the lake. Enter the Happier Camper.
This compact, trailer was designed with an Adaptiv™ modular system that allows owners to easily configure the interior of the trailer on-the-fly and in a variety of ways, with several sleeping arrangements for up to five people, as well as many storage and countertop options.
Consisting of modular components or cubes, the Adaptiv™ system is unique in its ability to easily and conveniently change a small space into whatever configuration you may need at the time. Whether a standard camper that can comfortably sleep a family of four, complete with kitchenette, dining table, and storage, or just one big bed to jump around on!
A mobile office, a sales space, or a completely empty “mini-toy hauler” capable of hauling larger gear — let your imagination run free with endless possibility.
Many of the modular components perform double-duty as indoor-outdoor furniture. Take the cubes outside to use for sitting, storage, or washing. The rugged materials will stand up to the elements and provide the ultimate in camping convenience.
Grooves are embedded in the floor to hold the Adaptiv™ cube components in place — just like Lego®. The floor panels have additional embedded features like table bases, frame-mounted D-Ring tie-downs, and a front drain to easily hose down the floor for quick and convenient cleanups.
Plus you can add on additional features like a solar panel, a lightweight air conditioner, ceiling fan, Suspension awning, a toilet cube and a large number of lighting options.
So this weekend the Happy Camper can be used as a trailer to move your child to university and then next weekend you can take it to your favorite National Park for a couple days or R&R!
Cool right? And I love the modern design.
